Our work invests in women survivors of war and conflicts in the Eastern part of the DRCongo providing them social and economic skills to transform their own lives. At " Amani Center " women breaks the isolation of war and conflicts by joining women talking circle of her choice. Together they learn to save, build businesses, also how to cope with cope with daily traumatic events also understand their Rights.
Women’s Talking circles is a caring and supportive women group based in Ruzizi plain at kamanyola in the
Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo . currently WTCF has 14 small active groups in 14
villages in the Ruzizi plain . Women’s talking circles aim to create a safe space for women to share their
differents aspects of life and allow them to go beyond shame and talk about topics that are meaningful and
important about their roles , stories, concerns and their visions. Our space encourage women and bring
positive change(power) women feel and understand each other that the situation that affect is not their
fault . we help women to cope, rebuild their lives , thrive and break victimhood mentality and make them
strong, resilient and independants.
We are healing women from their past trauma through therapy and life healing skills programming while
providing them essential ingrediants needed to move forward in life and turn the pain caused by terrifying
situations into power . Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the region where trauma is
home due to highest human rights violence , massive rape, SGBV and other many actrocities and there is
limited number of structures in the area to adress pschological needs of women. It is impossible to estimate
the extent of SGBV and rape in the Congo vastly underreported as victims lack access to adequate area
structures also large number of women are ashamed to tell what happened to them fearing rejection either
from the husband , the whole community or fear of reprisal from the aggressor our safe space gives them
opportunity for theù to to share what they were not able to.
We offer spaces to women every day, they heard theorical to a about how the brain works , what is post
traumatic stress disoder (PTSD), and how to go about traitement step by step and have the opportunity to
practice what thesy learn .
Through our work in the Ruzizi plain, participants and beneficiaries of our programs are able to :
Find new ways of telling their story that move away of victimhood, create positive stories that déconstruction " Us Vs Them" mentalities.
Recognise and understand their experiences of trauma and how it has shaped them-how to respond to the world, what triggers them.
Develop their own self - regulation strategies. Learn how to regulate their nervous system and be able to pass this knowledge onto others.
Denonce any kind of abuses against their human and women's Rights, romote women leadership Learn how to save incomes coming from their small business.
Our work creates the conditions for women trust across their respective sociaty.
